Professor Gross will speak on his research into nonlinear optics, photonic devices, soliton communications, and simulation methods, and how these things tie up with his research interests in the development of data analysis tools to analyze a variety of sensor data including ground based lidars, sky radiometers, water quality sensors as well as satellite sensors and develop approaches, which augment standard sensors by data fusion. Note: Students must pass the CUNY Proficiency Examination (CPE) by the time they have completed their 60th credit. Those students with grade point averages above 2.0 take the CPE for the first time between the 45th and 60th credit.
